Film and TV actress Sarah Jessica Parker of ‘Sex and the City’ fame is expanding her SJP footwear collection with an all-new bridal clothing line.
Created in partnership with e-commerce site Gilt, the line consists of 10 Ready-to-Wear (RTW) pieces and marks Parker’s first foray into the segment.
The new collection covers styles for various occasions within the bridal festivities calendar; apart from the big day, it also includes outfits that can be worn by the bride and groom’s family and friends as well.
From classic gowns and modern bodysuits, jumpsuits and fuller skirts, the SJP Bridal line aims to offer a contemporary take on the bridal segment with colours like blush, poppy, light grey and blue added to the mix.
Value additives consist of pretty bows, cut-outs, fairy time feathers, embroidery and beaded handwork. Markedly, materials like cashmere or stretch crepe being used to manufacture the clothes are majorly sourced Spain, Italy and France.
The size range of the line is somewhat limited with a range of 0-14 with prices going from US $ 300 for a bodysuit to about US $ 2,400 for an embroidered gown.
In addition, the bridal fashion line will be supplemented with a 15-piece shoe assortment to match the clothes for head-to-toe looks, offering some of SJP’s most-popular shoes in new, exclusive colourways.
Parker’s line aims to capture the growing market of non-traditional brides who are seeking to shake the traditional norms. Talking about why she initially launched footwear for brides and now clothing, Parker said, “We kept having these wonderful women of all age, background and sizes telling us that they were not buying what would be conventionally thought of as bridal. We recognized that there was this space where brides were looking for something that felt different that suggested who they were…”
At the moment, this bridal collection is a one-season collaboration and will be exclusively sold from the Hudson’s Bay Company-owned Gilt’s website for now, with a possibility of going to her stores later.
