‘Sustainability’ can probably be labelled as 2018’s biggest trend so far.
Big brands and retail giants are waking up to the reality of the overall impact the industry is making on the planet as a whole and are supporting it with huge chunks of investments by introducing sustainable clothing lines within their collections and ethical manufacturing processes.
Following the same, the UK’s most-anticipated fashion trade show that boasts of the largest gathering of fashion buyers, Pure London has announced the launch of a new section within its show format to display sustainable collections.
Called Pure Conscious, the new section will focus on sustainable brands by giving them a dedicated space at the event to be seen and heard.
Along with Common Objective, Pure Conscious intends on imparting education around the much debated topics and connect designers with prospective retailers and brands. This would entail on creating a one-on-one business platform for new and emerging talent(s) as well, that otherwise go unnoticed at similar events.
Pure Conscious would present an edited curation of both menswear and womenswear lines, footwear and accessories from a commendable line-up of designers poised to take the sustainability in fashion concept forward.
A few names on the list include Sami for ES.EM, Kleed Kimonos, Zola Amour, as well as Pure London regulars such as Thought.
Apart from this, the fashion event will also showcase a slew of content-based programmes and seminars highlighting the circular loop economy, sustainable fashion and ethical processes. Fashion technology as a subject would also be explored as a key to empowering the entire supply chain to be more sustainable in its outlook.
“Pure London, together with Common Objective, aims to push for a change in the fashion industry. Consumers today want visibility, they want to know they are buying sustainable and eco-friendly fashion. Fashion with a conscience is now an essential, not just a niche concern for retailers.” Julie Driscoll, Managing Director of Pure London, stated in a release.
Notably, Common Objective is the team’s latest online platform which was launched at the Ethical Fashion Forum. The platform is focussed on carrying forward the 12-year legacy associated with the Ethical Fashion Forum which is described as the “LinkedIn for ethical and sustainable fashion”.
The event is scheduled to take place from 22nd – 24th July 2018 at London Olympia. You can visit www.purelondon.com for further information.
