Datacolor, a leading Swiss provider of colour management solutions, has recently announced the acquisition of Illuminati Instrument Corporation, a California-based company known for its wireless light and colour meters designed for photography and videography.
Illuminati Instrument Corporation, situated in Santa Clara, specialises in the production of highly precise Bluetooth-connected light and colour meters, empowering photographers and videographers to achieve precise exposure and colour temperature adjustments under various lighting conditions.
Datacolor, on the other hand, primarily serving the textile and apparel industries, views this partnership as an opportunity to diversify its range of colour tools catering to creative professionals. The company presently offers software, instruments, and services to ensure the accuracy of colours in textiles, products, and images across different industries.
Albert Busch, President and CEO of Datacolor, expressed his enthusiasm about incorporating Illuminati’s light and colour meters into the Datacolor portfolio, stating that they complement the current Spyder family of colour calibration solutions. He emphasised that the addition of Illuminati’s technology will further enhance Datacolor’s comprehensive workflow solutions for photographers and videographers striving for true-to-life colour accuracy.
Michael Okincha, the founder of Illuminati Instrument Corporation, anticipates that this collaboration will provide Datacolor with the resources and exposure necessary to place their products in the hands of more creative individuals, enabling the production of colour-accurate images and videos.
Datacolor is planning to seamlessly integrate the newly acquired products into its existing product lineup over the course of the next few months. This strategy is expected to be pivotal to Datacolor’s offerings and for expanding its influence in the field of colour management for the creative community.
