    In Bangladesh’s US $ 52.8 billion in exports, apparels contributed a staggering US $ 42.6 billion, registering Y-o-Y growth of 35.47 per cent. The fact that the non-traditional markets played an important role in this undoubtedly deserves special mention.

    The export performance in these markets holds even more significance in light of recession fear looming large over the traditional strongholds of USA and Europe. Many of the non-traditional markets, especially in Asia amongst which are countries like Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and the likes have already taken steps to tackle inflation brought about by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, bringing hopes for Bangladesh of compensation for business loss, if any, that might happen in the traditional strongholds.
