US-based VF Corporation, a global leader in branded lifestyle apparel, footwear and accessories, has forged a deal with India’s Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for the production of ‘moisture control’ denim for its Wrangler brand.
The yet to be launched product will hit the Asian market by Spring/Summer 2018, the reports suggest.
The latest collaboration with VF Corporation is seen as a strategic move by Reliance Industries to expand its base in the apparel segment. The company recently launched an umbrella brand ‘R|Elan’ to venture into co-branded apparels.
R|Elan, speciality fabrics, is an outcome of the extensive research in fibre reengineering. According to RIL, the fabrics will be beneficial for all the apparel segments like activewear (R|Elan Kooltex), denim (R|Elan GreenGold), formal wear (R|Elan SuperSoft), casual and ethnic wear (R|Elan FreeFlow).
Reliance Industries is known as the biggest manufacturer of polyester fibre and yarn in the world. Its current production capacity stands at 2.5 million tonnes per annum.
VF Corporation will use the Kooltex fabric to produce the Inficool denim range. The performance fabric is highly capable of controlling moisture in apparel and provides comfort throughout the hot and humid summer season.
The other details of the agreement inked have not yet been revealed by the companies.
However, those working on the latest development reportedly target to sell around 2.5 lakh pairs of trousers in the launch year in the Asian markets such as India, China, Japan and Thailand.
