Taiwanese business executives have been encouraged to invest in Telangana’s expanding textile sector by the state’s minister of industries and information technology, D Sridhar Babu who urged them to join the “Rising Telangana” movement.
The Minister underlined that Telangana is rapidly emerging as a major force in the textile industry and that it provides more prospects than other Indian states. Eleven Taiwanese textile representatives met with the Minister at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat under the direction of Justin Huang, President of the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF).
Comparing Telangana to other top states, he emphasised the state’s advancements in the textile industry. Textiles are expected to contribute significantly to the industries’ anticipated Gross State Value Added (GSVA) of Rs. 2.77 lakh crore (US $ 32 billion) for 2024–2025. Telangana produces high-quality cotton, he said.
Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) was hailed as a significant success story by Sridhar Babu. KMTP, which was built with government assistance, has state-of-the-art facilities for every textile process, from spinning to clothing. The park has received investments from businesses as Ganesha Ecosphere, Kitex, and Youngone. It has good transport connections and is well situated close to the Hyderabad–Nagpur–Vijayawada Industrial Corridor. Eco-friendly dyeing and textile recycling are two fields with substantial investment potential.
Telangana’s dedication to industrial progress through international cooperation was reaffirmed by the minister to the delegation. The state provides geographical advantages, qualified personnel, ready-to-use facilities, customised land alternatives, and capable leadership. He pointed out that industries such as sustainable manufacturing and technological textiles are perfect for collaborations with Taiwanese businesses.
According to Minister Sridhar Babu, the government might think about establishing exclusive textile clusters and a Telangana–Taiwan Manufacturing Zone if Taiwanese companies show interest. He reaffirmed Telangana’s readiness to work with the Taiwan Textile Federation to promote the sector.
