Eshwar B. Khandre, Minister of Forest, Ecology, and Environment, has been encouraged by the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) to expedite the environmental clearance process for the proposed PM-Mitra Mega Textile Park in Kalaburagi district.
During the Minister’s visit to Kalaburagi on 26th July 2025, a group of KKCCI office-bearers, led by its president Sharanabasappa M. Pappa and secretary Shivraj V. Inginshetty, met with him at the State-run Aiwan-e-Shahi Guest House and presented a memorandum requesting his intervention.
Although the coveted PM-Mitra Mega Textile Park project was approved for Kalaburagi in 2023, the Chamber reminded the Minister in the memorandum that not much concrete work has been made in the last two years.
The creation of the Textile Park is essential to the industrial and economic development of the area. However, the project has slowed down due to the delay in gaining environmental clearance. The memorandum said, “We respectfully ask the Forest Minister to use his good offices to speed up the clearance process and enable the early implementation of the project.”
In response to the plea, Minister Eshwar Khandre gave the group his word that the government was dedicated to Kalyana Karnataka’s industrial growth and that all required measures would be made to address any outstanding environmental approval-related concerns.
