Exporters in Bangladesh are apprehending missing the all-important shipment deadlines as uncertainty looms over sourcing of raw materials following some banks refusing to open LCs on account of dollar shortages and non-settlements of previous loans taken from Export Development Fund (EDF) with export proceeds even if many of them now see their borrowing from the EDF falling short of the requirement following raw material prices going up in the global market.
Media reports claimed this citing the industry people.
Meanwhile, speaking to the pressmen, the BGMEA President, reportedly, claimed looming raw material crisis βwill deal a serious blow to apparel makers.β
βBuyers might either cancel orders or seek discounts if we fail to meet shipment deadlines,β reportedly, claimed Faruque Hassan.
