Campari Exports, Delhi is in touch with Primark Group and is expecting good business from them in the near future. Producing knits and woven and value-added garments for Germany, the company is looking to supply to Primark as a big opportunity, as the retailer has more than 256 outlets across the UK and Europe. Not only this, Campari is also adding some new buyers in the German market where it is already doing good export.
To meet this expanded buyer profile, the company has expanded recently by 300 machines in its new unit at Faridabad. Now it has almost 1,000 machines in four units across Delhi-NCR where 800 staff members have the capacity to produce three lakh pieces per month. “We are making fashionable garments in the range of US $ 4 to 5 and during the lean period budget stores are getting good business so we have an edge. Primark is also for masses so we have ample opportunities, but it is very early to say anything,” says Sunil Mehra, Director of the company. When questioned on why maintain four medium level units instead of one or two big units, Sunil gives two main reasons, “Big units demand big and one time investment which is very difficult and when you have different units it is easier to control production so we prefer having four medium level factories to one big unit. BSCI, Sedex and ETI certified, Campari Exports is expecting a turnover of Rs. 75 crore in FY 2012-13, as it has already done business of Rs. 60 crore in 2011-12.
