
West Point Home (WPH), a global marketer and manufacturer of home products, has opened a new spinning facility in Bahrain. The company has invested US $ 9 million in the third phase of expansion of its spinning mill. In the past five years, it’s the 3rd investment of WPH in Bahrain and till now the company has invested nearly US $ 160 million over the last 10 years. The products produced at its Bahrain’s units generate over 50 per cent of its total global revenues annually.
The inauguration of the unit followed the recent meeting between WPH senior officials and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Bahrain, Zayed R Alzayani. The officials also discussed how WPH will diminish the impact of the potential expiration of the Tariff Preference Level (TPL) that allows duty free access for the exports of support materials, such as yarns and other finished goods from Bahrain to the US.

Normand Savaria, President and CEO of WPH said, “The third phase expansion project will increase spinning capacity by 38 per cent. Spinning more yarn in Bahrain will decrease lead times, increase flexibility and will, along with other initiatives help to mitigate the impact of the anticipated TPL expiration mid-2016.”
According to the company officials WPH will expand capacity, capabilities and environmental projects including additional weaving, the spinning projects, expansion of manual and automatic sewing and embroidery capacity till the conclusion of this project.
