
Established in 1992 by Deepak Kumar, Parmaar Agency is one of the leading suppliers, exporters, wholesalers and traders of garment accessories for garment manufacturers in India. Dealing in a wide range of products from buttons, snaps, buckles, tapes and hangers to laces, the company is happy being a trader and has no plans in entering the manufacturing sector. In a freewheeling conversation with Team AO, Deepak Kumar, Proprietor, Parmaar Agency shares his strategy for growth and what sets him apart…
Confident that Parmaar Agency can service clients better as traders, Deepak says, “Being a trader gives you an upper hand in the business, as one has multiple choices when it comes to choose a manufacturer for the products, we can have a manufacturer from both India and other countries, depending on the product we want. A manufacturer on the other hand has to deal with the deadlines for development, other inputs to increase their capacity and there is dependence on the labour, which is proving to be a major constraint these days considering the shrinkage of the industry due to the non-availability of skilled labour. And thus, we are happy being traders and have more choice and a wide range in sourcing, and so have no intentions of entering manufacturing at present.”
The company sources its products from the northern region of the country and also imports certain products from Hong Kong. Though sourced and not manufactured, the company maintains the quality standards of all their products. “All the products given to our clients by us are lead, cadmium, nickel, ferrous and phthalates free, but if there is a demand or requirement of a product that does have these elements in the products by our clients, we ensure that that they do not cross the set permissible levels. Despite the fact that the products are already tested by the manufacturers, we still conduct tests at our end, and we believe it is also our liability to replace any product which is inferior quality goes from our door step,” claims Deepak.

Adding to the same Deepak says, “Our clients stick to us for long period of time because we work as per their demands, if they work with us they will never let go of our company due to our strength in sourcing, such a thing would only occur if we refuse due to some strong reason or if any other major problem occurs. Customer satisfaction has always been very important to us; we take care of the smallest details when it comes to our clients, for example, we never continue with the same packaging we receive from the factories, we conduct re-inspections and re-pack every item as per our customer’s choice and taste.”
Along with having a few nominations, the company holds an impressive list of domestic buyers like Colorplus, Indian Terrain, Basics, Durby, Barrier Reef, Daniel Heactur, Urban Touch, Smug and Classic Polo, and also caters to international brands such as Marlboro Classic, Academy, Replay & Sons, UCB, Diesel, Burton, White Stuff, Classic Laundered, M&S, Diadora and Red Skin. The order sizes of the company depend on the products and sizes and the stocks are updated every month in order to provide the buyer with new designs every time. Elaborating more on the companies work procedures Deepak says, “Our delivery cycles range between two to three weeks and we follow the same from day one so we never fail on our delivery commitments. If in any case, anytime the factory or the manufacturing unit refuses to deliver the goods on time then we inform the vendors well in advance and try to solve the problem. Sometimes we even have to take the bulk by air courier, in order to meet our delivery date.”
Confident about a bright year ahead Deepak says, “If your services are good, offering the best products and holding a positive attitude, the market situations always work outto be fine; we are satisfied and content with how things are moving on.” Moving ahead with the positive outlook the company is planning to expand their product range by adding packaging materials to their current product portfolio.
