The Planning Commission of Pakistan has approved funds worth Rs. 46.200 million for the textile garments project “1,000 Industrial Stitching Units.”
In a statement issued by Press Information Department on 2nd April 2019, the Commission said that the approval of funds was yet again an indication of Government’s commitment to encourage public private partnership so as to enhance the value addition in textile garments.
While the 60 per cent of funding for the machines will be given through Public Sector Development Programme, the remaining 40 per cent funding will come from the beneficiary of the stitching units.
The project will enable the textile division to also establish industrial stitching units by strengthening small and medium entrepreneurs. Textile Division signed an MoU with SMEDA on 29th March 2019 to get the project executed and now with the approval of funds, it will be implemented soon all over the country.
The objective of the project is to increase the textile exports of the country as well as provide business and job opportunities for the apparel manufacturers in Pakistan, especially youth.
