Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company, one of India’s largest producers of home textiles, has decided to expand its reach in south Indian state of Tamil Nadu by opening more stores. This was announced by Nagesh Rajanna, Chief Executive Officer, Bombay Dyeing Retail during a media interaction last week.
Currently, Tamil Nadu is home to 25 company-owned Bombay Dyeing stores and franchises across nine towns of the state. The company wants to make it to 75 stores, which will be a mixture of company-owned and franchise model, across 40 towns in the State, by 2020. Bombay Dyeing is planning to set up its base in 20 towns of Tamil Nadu through franchises in the next one year.
“Tamil Nadu accounts for about 7 per cent of total revenue from textiles and hence a huge market for us. We want to increase it to 10 per cent,” Rajanna was quoted as saying by media.

Apart from company-owned and franchise stores, the Wadia Group-owned company plans to double its presence to 700 multi-brand textile stores. The company which registered revenue of Rs. 306 crore last fiscal is setting up its in-house design studio and system for high-tech digital print to boost production in premium segment.
