The global debut of Neuono, an application that uses artificial intelligence to create highly personalised, custom-made clothing, has been announced by the Australian technology and fashion business THDR business.
The goal of the AI-powered software Neuono is to eliminate the need for in-person fittings and store visits by allowing users to design made-to-measure clothing for both men and women using their smartphones.
The application uses core AI models from Google and OpenAI as well as THDR Group’s proprietary generative AI engine, SenseThread. To create custom clothing designs, the system combines 3D body mapping, style algorithms, and user choice, global fashion trends, social media signals, and even local weather data.
The company claims that in order to solve the problems of inadequate fit and overproduction in the fashion industry, Neuono can create up to 70 billion distinct combinations of fabrics, linings, threads, and buttons for each garment.
Users create accurate measurements by scanning their bodies using a smartphone. After that, the AI system makes personalised fabric, fit, and style recommendations. Natural hints like “make it black” or “swap buttons to gold” allow users to further engage with the AI, while the engine continuously improves the design. After the purchaser is happy, the garment is produced on demand and shipped directly to the customer, usually in a matter of weeks.
“We created Neuono to address two of the main issues facing fashion: excessive manufacturing and bad fit. We cut waste and totally transform the consumer experience by customising everything to order and fit,” explains Sean Fagan, THDR Group’s co-founder and technology lead.
“With this technology, the fashion possibilities become limitless,” he continued. Neuono can choose from more than 70 billion possible combinations of buttons, threads, linings, and materials for a single garment. Up until now, ready-to-wear apparel hasn’t offered that degree of customisation.
The app Neuono is presently accessible for download on Google Play and the App Store in the US, UK, and Australia. With the launch of Neuono, THDR Group hopes to broaden its technological approach to include women’s and men’s clothing in a variety of styles and applications.
