Regarding ongoing trademark conflicts in Indonesia, the luxury American brand Ralph Lauren Corporation has released a statement making it clear that the violator is ‘not affiliated to the company in any way’.
Its comments are directed towards the ongoing conflicts that exist between various Indonesian parties and PT Manggala Putra Perkasa, which conducts business under the “confusing” moniker “Polo Ralph Lauren Indonesia.”
The business declared that it “currently does not directly operate any stores in Indonesia, nor has it authorised or entered into an agreement with any partner or distributor” to operate branded stores under its name. It further stated that Ralph Lauren itself was not involved in these conflicts.
Ralph Lauren stated that although it has only been selling its goods through specific independent shops, it was “aware of several third parties,” including the company in question, that had registered several identical trademarks in Indonesia.
Its statement continued, “We recognise that these trademarks and names are a source of confusion. Ralph Lauren is committed to taking every necessary measure to ensure that its copyrights, trademarks and other intellectual property rights are not violated, as part of its efforts to provide authentic products and experiences to consumers in the region.”
