Marks & Spencer (M&S) is set to help its employees battle the cost-of-living crisis.
The clothing retailer has announced a £ 15 million worth support package for the staff, which also includes food vouchers and salary hikes.
For the first time, the retailer has introduced an additional autumn pay review and said that more than 40,000 workers’ hourly pay will be raised to a minimum of £ 10.20 starting 1 October 2022.
Back in April, M&S had hiked the pay from £ 9.50 to £ 10.00.
Besides, the retailer said that it will also offer a one-off £ 250 voucher to spend at M&S for its salaried colleagues at pre-management level.
Also, M&S is launching a free meal per shift for employees at its distribution centre in Castle Donington, in addition to introducing free sanitary products to workers across all stores and sites.
Founded in 1884, M&S generated £ 10,181.9 million in 2020.
