Macy’s Inc., announced plans to extend its small-format store network, in a move that could triple the total number of its small-format stores through fall 2025.
The major American department store chain announced intentions to spread 30 additional Macy’s small-format stores across the nation starting in 2024. The precise geographic regions and timing have not yet been revealed.
According to a press release, Macy’s small-format stores provide customers with a comfortable shopping experience in an open space that is around 1/5 the size of the full-line stores and offers a curated assortment of goods.
“We are excited to accelerate the expansion of our small-format strategy as we continue to innovate and reposition our store portfolio to better serve our customers,” said Adrian Mitchell, chief operating officer and chief financial officer for Macy’s, Inc.
According to the firm, Macy’s small-format stores that have been operating for more than one fiscal year have seen positive comparable owned plus licenced sales growth year-to-date through spring 2023.
Approximately 15 small-format Macy’s and Bloomie’s stores are currently run by Macy’s Inc. in the United States. Most recently, the business revealed on Monday that its first Bloomie’s store would open in Seattle in November.
