Independent Parisian fashion house Maison Kitsuné has unveiled its debut collaboration with British heritage brand Barbour, offering outerwear, clothing, and accessories.
The unisex collaboration provides Barbour classics through Maison Kitsuné’s French-Japanese viewpoint. Legacy designs are reinterpreted through vivid colour blocking, and the brand’s signature fox is embroidered over quilted and waxed cotton coats.
The fun Maison Kitsuné x Barbour collection includes a patchwork ‘Beaufort’ waxed jacket in a color-blocked design with a fox logo and statement graphic sweatshirts and T-shirts featuring the Maison Kitsuné fox dressed in a traditional head-to-toe Barbour look in an effort to provide elevated, effortless essentials designed to be ‘life-proof,’ whether worn in the country or the city.
A woven check shirt inspired by traditional tattersall shirting, cargo trousers with oversized flap pockets to the thighs in a trench brown or uniform green colorway, and a landscape knitted jumper inspired by the evergreen countryside made of ultra-soft Shetland wool are other standouts. These pieces draw from the heritage and utilitarian archives of both brands.
A reversible tote bag made of traditional dry wax cloth that can also be worn on the opposite side to expose Barbour’s iconic tartan and a reversible bucket hat with removable chin straps are among the accessories included in the collection.
Commenting on the collaboration, Ian Bergin, director of menswear, boyswear and accessories at Barbour, said in a statement, “Working with the Maison Kitsuné team has been a great learning experience.”
The Maison Kitsuné x Barbour collection will be available on Barbour.com and Maisonkitsune.com from 4th October.
