Kate Phelan has been appointed to the newly established position of Creative Director at luxury fashion and beauty retailer Harvey Nichols, effective immediately.
Phelan is regarded as “a pivotal figure in the modern British fashion scene” and is one of the country’s most renowned stylists.
She has held important positions at British Vogue from 1993 to 2012 as Fashion Director, followed by Senior Contributing Fashion Editor to the present, and Topshop from 2011 to 2017 as Creative Director, all of which “cemented her influence in shaping a globally recognised British aesthetic.”
Over the course of 30 years, Phelan has collaborated with numerous renowned photographers and creatives to produce some of the most iconic fashion photos for British Vogue. In addition to her new position, she will keep working on freelance editorial and commercial style projects.
She will be in charge of Harvey Nichols’ marketing campaigns in her new position, which also entails improving the business’s creative offerings and visual identity. Phelan will answer directly to Julia Goddard, the CEO of Harvey Nichols.
Of the appointment Phelan said, “I’m overjoyed to be the Creative Director at Harvey Nichols. There are a lot of new ways to leverage the media we have at our disposal to tell stories, making this an exciting time in retail.”
