The British legacy fashion brand Burberry has introduced a scarf made of a novel new material called Brewed Protein fibre, which was created by the Japanese biotech company Spiber.
In a statement, Burberry said it is the first luxury brand to debut new items utilising Brewed Protein; a next-gen, lab-grown fibre generated through the fermentation of plant-based, sustainable components.
It continues by saying that it will use this brand-new, cutting-edge sustainable fibre in soft accessories. The first item to be featured is a scarf with twisted fringe that features the B shield, an equestrian knight design-inspired design.
Inspired by Burberry’s innovative past, this mixed scarf is woven in Italy and comprises 30 per cent Brewed Protein, 8 per cent Cashmere, and 62 per cent Wool for an incredibly soft feel.
