A major reorganisation of Union Secretaries has been carried out by the Centre. The Government’s emphasis on administrative effectiveness and effective leadership across ministries and departments is demonstrated by this reorganisation.
As a result of the reorganisation, the current secretaries from a number of industries, including the Ministry of Textiles (MoT), have been replaced. Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Rachna Shah has been appointed Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Neelam Shammi Rao, a former Secretary of the National Commission for Minorities, has taken her place in the Ministry of Textiles.
Shah took charge as Secretary, Ministry of Textiles in November 2022. She is a 1991 batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre. She was appointed by previous Minister of Textiles Piyush Goyal and continued to work with present Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh until her appointment as Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
