In an effort to improve its supply chain and material data visibility, New Look has implemented a digital traceability platform for its main supplier base.
According to the British fashion company, all of its primary suppliers have now been fully integrated into the system, and new upcoming vendors must do the same.
The tool, which is provided by Sweden-based TrusTrace, integrates with New Look’s internal data systems to provide real-time supply chain activity monitoring.
In addition to supporting a number of tasks like risk assessment, regulatory compliance, product traceability, emissions tracking, and third-party disclosures, it makes it possible to gather original data on the origin of products, labour conditions, and environmental impact.
The decision was made in response to growing regulatory pressure on the fashion industry and other sectors to improve their supply chains. More convincing proof that companies are not making money off of abusive labour practices or unduly harming the environment is being sought by authorities and investors.
