A delegation of Noida’s apparel industry and Government officials visited Coimbatore to explore the latest technology, working culture of factories and overall business opportunities.
The five-day-long tour saw 25 industry representatives hold various meetings and visit factories in Coimbatore.
Noida is a leading apparel manufacturing hub, while Coimbatore is strong both in textiles (including spinning, knitting) and apparels. Besides, Noida is also recognised as an RMG hub under the Uttar Pradesh Government’s ‘one district, one product’ (ODOP) scheme.
The tour was organised by the State Government’s Export Promotion Bureau in coordination with Textile Committee, Coimbatore.
The delegation will submit its report to Navneet Sehgal, Principal Secretary, MSME & Export Promotion, of the state suggesting how Noida can increase its apparel export like Coimbatore.
Umesh Batra, Secretary, Indian Industries Association and Partner, Sai Saburi International; Rahul Jain of MS Embroidery who are also associated with Indian Industries Association, Noida, were also part of the delegation.
Umesh said, “It was fruitful exercise as besides visiting apparel parks in Tirupur, we visited various factories, The South India Textile and Research Association and discussed things in detail.”
He further added that technology being used at Coimbatore and Tirupur are almost the same as currently being used in North India. Some additional mechanised machinery like the CFC for cutting fabrics and design-based shape cutting are being used due to volume production.
Large curing machines have been set for processing of fabric after dyeing and printing. The printing process also has been converted to mechanised printing, which increases the output.
