The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has sought customs support from Customs Bond Commissionerate (CBC) even as it called upon it to ease its export-import audit activities for the apparel industry.
Reports claimed this while maintaining that a BGMEA delegation — the delegation included Senior Vice-President SM Mannan (Kochi), Vice-President Md Shahidullah Azim, Director Asif Ashraf, former Director Munir Hossain, Managing Director of Sparrow Apparels Shovon Islam (Shawn) and Chairman of Mitali Group Syed Abu Yousuf Abdullah — made this request to the CBC Commissioner Kazi Mustafizur Rahman during a recent meeting with him.
The BGMEA delegation, reportedly, urged Kazi Mustafizur Rahman that until the minimum limit of wastages in manufacturing knitwear is fixed again, a provisional arrangement be made to continue the existing services while also underlining that support and cooperation of the CBC would help the apparel sector address the challenges that it is facing at present, and help it make a turnaround.
