Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Textiles (Independent Charge) inaugurated the 55th India International Garment Fair, organized by AEPC in association with AEMA, GEA and CMAI as partner associations and GEAR as the co-organisers. The garment show covers segments – Apparel and Fashion Accessories; encompassing a vast exhibition area of around 17,256 square metres with an objective to showcase latest garment and fashion accessories trends shaping up.
Buyers from EU, Asia, USA, Brazil, UK, USA, Turkey, Australia, Russia, Japan, UAE, Hong Kong, Spain, etc. are going to be seen at the fair. Companies such as One Jeanswear Group from USA, Grupo Hotelshops, Mexico, PJSC Melon Fashion Group from Russia, The Original Factory Shop from UK, Cortefiel from Spain and PNL from Thailand are also coming at the show.
At the inauguration, Virender Uppal, Chairman, AEPC emphasized on the growth in the apparel sector, “Despite the deceleration in overall export is almost 20% for the month of April-May 2015-16, the apparel exports have registered a growth of 7% to the tune of US $ 3 billion compared to last year. He further added that the country achieved a CAGR of 8.1% during post quota period (2005-14), and if the same is applied, export projections for each of the years up to 2019-2020, garment exports can touch US $ 24.9 billion.
