Providing sophisticated hardware and software systems to automate and effectively manage the product design and manufacturing processes of the apparel industry for the past four decades, Gerber Technology has recently introduced GERBERcutter GTxL Wide. The cutter that can cut fabric, leather and other technical textile materials with a wider width of up to 2.2 metres (86 inches) will in particular help those technical textile manufacturers and fashion knitwear using wider materials, where full-size parts require no sewing.
According to Ron Ellis, Product Manager for Gerber Technology’s multi-ply cutting systems, since the trend had been towards smaller and quick turnaround orders in the last few years, GTxLcutter has been found to be the most reliable cutter in the market – ideal for smaller and quick-turn orders. Now with the availability of a GTxL Wide model, Gerber customers can realize even greater cost savings and flexibility in the cutting room.
The GERBERcutter GTxL Wide is a low-ply conveyorized system that is capable of cutting up to 2.5 cm (1 inch) of compressed material. It includes variable vacuum regulation to enable optimal material stability during cutting, resulting in extremely accurate cut parts with less energy consumption. The cutting head can be fitted with up to two optional drills – each accommodating bits up to 9.5 mm (3/8 inches) in diameter. An optional knife chiller keeps the blade cool during cutting which is critical when cutting fusible or heat-sensitive materials. The optional lateral travel kit moves the cutter among multiple spreading tables to optimize cutting throughput and efficiency.
