After a challenging 2017, the apparel exports, in spite of competitive market, and Government receivable issues – from GST refund to RoSL duty drawback – besides stiff competition from Bangladesh and Vietnam, has maintained a steady growth. Most companies that Team AO spoke to were hopeful of good orders this year.

There is another good news for the industry…  According to Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) estimate, cotton crop production this year is likely to witness a substantial growth – an increase of 8.11 per cent, i.e. 373 lakh bales (of 170 kg each) compared to last year.

The menswear industry too has grown up considerably in the past few seasons both in terms of offerings and purchasing. Team FFT analyses and puts together a round-up of the key menswear trends for Spring/Summer 2019 from the showcases presented at London, Milan and Pitti Uomo.
