From humble beginnings as a dynamic duo to a dedicated team of fifteen passionate individuals, Salmina Rahman Couture has flourished, in a short span of time, into a fashion powerhouse.
The brand scours the rich tapestry of Bangladesh, curating collections from traditional textiles that span every corner of the vibrant nation, while exploring the exquisite artistry of traditional handcrafted threadwork, brilliantly interwoven with contemporary designs that breathe new life into timeless fabrics.
Established in 2018, Salmina Rahman Couture started as a small-scale operation with Salmina and her husband, Navid Mohammad Saazi, at the helm. Having graduated from North South University (NSU) with a degree in marketing, Salmina always dreamt of making her mark in the fashion world. Alongside her husband, Navid, her dream came to fruition as he played a vital role in organising, sourcing materials and managing the packaging of the end products of the brand from the very beginning.
“At Salmina Rahman Couture, we specialise in traditional handcrafted threadwork on modern-day outfits. Most of our customers opt for contemporary designs on traditional fabric acquired from all over the country,” Salmina Rahman, Owner and Founder of Salmina Rahman Couture, told Apparel Resources (AR) in an exclusive interview.
The made-to-order brand empowers customers to take the lead in creating their own masterpieces. Customers are allowed to select from a kaleidoscope of fabrics, hues, intricate threadwork options and designs, in order to create a garment that is an extension of their own personality.
The team then seamlessly blends these personalised elements together, to come up with one-of-a-kind ensembles that celebrate the fusion of tradition and contemporary allure.

Product category and pricing
Salmina Rahman Couture specialises in multicultural attire and prides itself in its devotion to handcrafted design. Each exquisite outfit is meticulously sketched and brought to life, embodying the essence of wearable art.
Owing to the made-to-order nature of its clothing, prices are exclusively determined by the customisations requested by customers. “As a made-to-order boutique, we embrace the belief that ‘all beings are unique.’ We wholeheartedly celebrate individuality, allowing our clients to express their distinct personalities through their personalised garments,” Salmina said.
Details and embroidery techniques
Known to embody detailed craftsmanship that is complemented by their colour contrasts, Salmina Rahman Couture only offers the best fabric quality while playing around with unique cuts and finesse in embroidery that sets it apart from its counterparts.
“Our elaborate detailing and use of extensive variety of ornamentations on our embroidered garments is made to flaunt elegance, royalty, heritage and culture,” Salmina explained.
Even the smallest of motifs are handcrafted with love using techniques such as zardozi, dabka, zari work, multiple-shaded threads, pearls, stones and sequins so that every detail of the Founder’s vision behind the outfit comes to life.
Manufacturing and sourcing
All production and manufacturing operations of the brand are conducted in-house at their state-of-the-art manufacturing units that are nestled across the outskirts of Dhaka.
“We meticulously source all our fabrics from within the country, supporting local artisans and preserving the rich heritage of Bangladesh,” Salmina revealed, adding, “In order to ensure the highest quality and vibrancy in hues, we acquire our dyes from Germany, carefully storing them at our manufacturing units. This seamless integration allows us to fulfill our customers’ desires by crafting garments in any colour they envision.”
By maintaining complete control over production, Salmina Rahman Couture upholds its commitment to excellence, ensuring that every garment that bears the Salmina Rahman Couture tag meets the highest standards of craftsmanship.
“With unwavering attention to detail and a dedication to quality, our in-house manufacturing process guarantees that each piece reflects the artistry and precision for which we are renowned,” Salmina stated.
