An interaction meeting with Additional Commissioner of Customs Vijay Vel Krishna IRS and Chief Commissioner of Customs S.K. Vimalanathan IRS was arranged at the Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) office.
Participating were representatives of member firms, the Honorary Chairman of TEA, Dr. A. Sakthivel, the Association’s President, K. M. Subramanian, the General Secretary, N. Thirukkumaran, the Treasurer, R. Gopalakrishnan, the Joint Secretary, Kumar Duraiswamy, and Executive Committee Member, M. Anand.
K.M. Subramanian stated that he anticipates a 15 per cent growth this year, with an export target of US $ 4.56 billion (Rs. 40,000 crore). Additionally, he stated that it is anticipated that the organised domestic sector will reach US $ 3.42 billion (Rs. 30,000 crore). The Tirupur Cluster is concentrating more on green clothing and ESG. He also said that the association had an event last month called Logics of Logistics and that a WhatsApp forum has been set up for members to ask questions.
Dr. A. Sakthivel informed the gathering that the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), TEA, and Trichy Customs have jointly planned to create the Thunaivan portal. He mentioned that exporters are not facing major customs related issues in Tuticorin and Trichy.
S.K. Vimalanathan answered the participants’ questions and concerns about a range of topics, including RoSCTL, Drawback, BRC, and shipping bills, and offered appropriate answers. He promised that any problems exporters encounter would be recorded and asked them to bring them to the attention of TEA and AEPC.
