
An awareness programme on breast cancer and cervical cancer for women was arranged by the Tirupur Stakeholders Forum (TSF), the TEA – Women Entrepreneurs Sub-Committee, and the Tirupur Tirumuruganpoondi Rotary Association. The programme was held at M/s. Anthony Garments Pvt Ltd., a Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) member company.
President of Tirupur Exporters Association K.M. Subramanian presided. President of TSF and Vice President of the Association V. Elangovan, General Secretary of the Association N. Thirukumaran, Chairman Business Development, Branding and Sustainability Sub-Committee M. Anand participated.
TEA Women Entrepreneurship Sub-Committee Chairperson Sumita Ravi, Members Suganti, Sruthika, and Pandiselvi, Dr. Anitha Vijay, President of Thirumuruganpoondi Rotary Association Dr. D. Karthikeyan, Zonal Coordinator of the project V. G. Anand Ram also participated in the programme.
In his keynote address, TEA President K.M. Subramanian stated that the organisation, in collaboration with the Rotary Club, has been assisting TEA in educating women about breast and cervical cancer and holding screening camps specifically for them.
Under this programme, 4000 women have been screened so far, and 40 of them have had successful diagnoses and treatments for their problems. Events such as this have been held on a regular basis over the past six months to demonstrate that the association, in addition to its member organisations, is concerned about women’s health maintenance. He invited women to discuss any questions they had with a doctor on their medical state as part of this awareness event, which is being held to safeguard the well-being of workers.
In his speech, V. Elangovan, the chairman of TSF and vice president of the association, stated that the TEA – Women Entrepreneurs subcommittee had started a project to bring awareness programmes about the welfare of women workers to all of Tirupur’s institutions in partnership with the Rotary organisation. He urged everyone to benefit from this programme, which is TEA, TSF, and Rotary’s effort to defend women workers’ incomes.
