For their remarkable contributions to the Indian textile industry, C. Kandaswamy, Chairman, Shanmugavel Group of Mills, Tirupur; K.P. Ramasamy, CMD, KPR Mills, Coimbatore; P.R. Venketrama Raja, Chairman, RAMCO Group; Bal Krishna Goenka, Chairman of Welspun Group and Dinesh Oswal, MD, Nahar spinning mills Ludhiana have been honoured with lifetime achievement awards.
The Cotton Association of India (CAI) for its ‘Centenary Year Celebrations’ honoured the stalwarts of the industry. Textile Commissioner Roop Rashi presented the awards. Many dignitaries from cotton and textile industry were present on this occasion.
Sandeep Tate, a cotton farmer from District Adilabad, Telangana was honoured for special innovative farming, as he achieved 2,200 kg per acre by using special oil technology in cotton farming.
Amrutrao Deshmukh from District Yavatmal, Maharashtra was awarded for highest average yield, i.e. 3,500 kg per acre. He has developed a special technique called Amrut Pattern.
Dr. C.D. Mayee was honoured with the ‘Best Cotton Scientist’ Award.
The event also witnessed the release of a special ‘Postal Stamp & Cover’ issued by the GPO in celebration of CAI’s completion of 100 years.
There were panel discussions also focused on the current direction of the cotton segment.
