
The annual Techno-Summit organized by NIFT, Delhi saw many industry experts share learning with the just pass out batch of students of Bachelors in Fashion Technology (BFT) and Masters in Fashion Technology (MFT). The first session, moderated by Prashant Agarwal, Jt. Managing Director, Wazir Consulting, saw speakers share new concepts. While Dhruv Saxena from Decathlon talked on Innovating gear for extreme sports and what Decathlon is doing on the same lines, Mausmi Ambastha from Intellocut detailed her Cut Order planning solutions. Also, Nishant Kumar, a BFT alumni of 2012 gave a preview of his award winning innovation ‘Anti-molestation jacket’ which has recently been awarded patent. Other speakers were Abhishek Lewis, an MDesign alumnus, who gave a preview of his visual merchandising solution Mock Shop and Sunny Arora an NIFT BFT 2008 alumnus who spoke about broadcast2world.com, an innovative video service.

The second session moderated by Ila Saxena, Editor, Apparel Online had speakers from Lectra, Loiva, Juki and Jeanologia talk about innovation in their products. Gauri Dutt Sharma from Lectra detailed the latest in automatic cutters from the French company, Anshuman Dash of Loiva explained to students the evolutions and application of seam sealing machines from H&H Taiwan, Manuj Kanchan talked about the dry processing and finishing technologies for jeans from the Spanish company Jeanologia, and Dr V. Senthil Kumar of NIFT presented his project on redesigning of respirators, which was conducted at the Georgia Tech University, USA.
[bleft]To the amazement of all, Kinshuk Shukla and Kshitij Sinha from the Bachelors in Fashion Technology batch of 2013 swept away all three categories of awards for their project – “Development of a Non-Obtrusive Finger Guard for Sewing Machines”. [/bleft]
From the batch of Masters in Fashion Technology, Anuj Kohli won the ‘Best Project Award’ for his project “To Maximize the Sewing Throughput Performance Using Failure Mode Effect & Improvement”, while Shiv Thaulia won ‘The Most Innovative’ and ‘The Most Commercially Viable Project’ award for his project “Development of a New System for Quantification of Seam Pucker”.
To the amazement of all, Kinshuk Shukla and Kshitij Sinha from the Bachelors in Fashion Technology batch of 2013 swept away all three categories of awards for their project – “Development of a Non-Obtrusive Finger Guard for Sewing Machines”.
