
The Special Envoy on International Affairs of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Hon. Adviser Lutfey Siddiqui, met with representatives of the Buyer’s Forum at the H&M Dhaka office to discuss key issues and opportunities for the country’s Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector.
The Buyer’s Forum, an industry-focused platform that brings together global apparel buyers, provides strategic guidance and insights to help the RMG sector navigate international markets, improve supply chain efficiency, and enhance sustainable and ethical practices. Their engagement with Bangladeshi manufacturers supports investment decisions, market diversification, and operational improvements.
During the meeting, both sides explored the implications of Bangladesh’s graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status, potential US tariffs, and other trade facilitation measures affecting garment exports. Discussions also focused on strategies to preserve Bangladesh’s competitive edge in the global apparel market.
Buyer’s Forum members shared insights on new market opportunities, expansion of investment and logistics infrastructure, and the strengthening of trade networks to boost export growth. Adviser Siddiqui provided guidance on future development prospects and strategies for scaling the sector responsibly and sustainably.
The dialogue reinforced the collaborative approach between Bangladesh’s RMG stakeholders and international buyers, with an emphasis on maintaining ethical standards and global competitiveness.
