
The Jagannath Institute of Management Sciences (JIMS) Rohini, Department of Design, recently held Style and Trends 2012, the annual fashion show of the institute to display the ideas and designs of emerging young designers with a mix of ‘PRET A PORTER’ and ‘HAUTE COUTURE’. Emerging as an important institute for fashion, JIMS has many well placed alumni in the industry. The reflection of the growing importance of the institute could be seen in the attendance by many eminent industry persons including fashion designers, representatives of FDCI, socialites, retailers and media. The fashion show saw many top models from Delhi and Mumbai walk the ramp for the young designers.
“The fashion industry today is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic industries in the world. Hence, at JIMS School of Design, we train our students keeping three important aspects in mind – the primary needs of the client, the focal point of design and the design appeal to the customer. Seeing today’s successful rendition of their immense creativity, I am quite confident that our students will make a quality difference tomorrow when they will join this industry,” said Preeti Batra, HOD, Department of Design, JIMS Rohini, wishing them the very best for a successful career.
The event had strong creations on themes such as The Sur Real World, Inflorescence, My Reang Girl, Save Our Tigers Save Our Heritage, Glamorizing Khadi, Astrous, Enigmatic Essence, Sufism and many more, amongst which the winner of the best designer was the collection, Glamorizing Khadi. The fashion show was adjudged in four major categories: “Best Designer”, “Most Creative”, “Best Presentation” and “Best Commercial Wearable Garment”. The sequence Save Our Tigers Save Our Heritage supported by PETA, one of the sponsors of the event, was presented with a message to spread the awareness of protecting the tigers.
