
Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) in association with ITPO is participating in Artigiano in Fiera, Milan, which is taking place from 5-13 December, 2015 in Milan, Italy. The fair that started in 1996, is one of the biggest international retail trade events dedicated to arts and crafts from across the world.
Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, India says, “The fair is being organized with a clear objective to focus on handicrafts and the handmade products with the view to Sell Directly and Search new products in the market.”

One of the main objectives of EPCH is to participate in specialized International Trade B2B/Retail Fairs and exhibitions that pertains to home, lifestyles and fashion products in order to encourage the exports of handicrafts from India in general and create a brand image for the Indian handcrafted products, particularly in the International markets.
Artigiano in Fiera which is open to general public and trade visitors both for spot booking and retail and sale spreads over 1,50,000 square metre area and boasts of the participation of more than 3,000 exhibitors from 110 countries from across the world. The product categories on display are giftware and fancy goods, clothing and accessories, furnishing and fittings, gold and silver items, house ware items, informs Kumar.
The event, Artigiano in Fiera, has 11 member exporters of the Council from various parts of India displaying different kinds of handcrafted products such as stoles, shawls, ladies handbags, artificial jewellery, handicrafts, scarves, home decorative items, bed sheets, cushion covers, curtains, etc.

Apart from member exporters, five master craftsmen who have been conferred National Awards for their skills are also demonstrating their works like silver filigree from Andhra Pradesh, mithila painting from Bihar, camel leather jewellery from Jodhpur, and embroidery from Uttar Pradesh.
A press release from EPCH stated that exports of handicrafts in the year 2014-15 were Rs. 18,639 crores registering a growth of 7.96% over the previous year. The export during first seven months of this financial year stood at Rs. 10,995.62 crores registering a growth of 10.94% over the same period last year. It is set to achieve a target of Rs. 20,368 crores in 2015-16.
