In an important move to speed up the textile and apparel industry’s growth, the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) formally established a strategic collaboration with the Chhattisgarh State by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
With the MoU, the State and the national clothing industry group begin a new chapter of collaboration, demonstrating the State’s proactive efforts to increase investments, create jobs, and solidify its standing as a competitive centre for textile and apparel manufacture in India.
CM Vishnu Deo Sai emphasised the importance of the collaboration, stating that the Chhattisgarh-CMAI relationship will significantly strengthen the state’s textile and apparel sector. With a Rs. 271 crore (US $ 31.74 million) investment, the opening of an NIFT institute in Raipur has been authorised. Additionally, businesses that employ more than 1,000 locals are receiving special perks, which the textile and apparel industries frequently take advantage of. Chhattisgarh is a desirable location for manufacturing operations because it provides a favourable investment climate with good rail connectivity, a dependable electrical supply, and an abundance of water resources.
The MoU deals with establishing a CMAI office in Chhattisgarh to support the textile and apparel sector, raising knowledge of the industrial policies of the state and facilitating communication between Chhattisgarh apparel manufacturers and the Indian domestic market.
According to Santosh Katariya, President of the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), Chhattisgarh has a great deal of potential to become a major force in the Indian textile and apparel industry. This collaboration is a big step in opening up new job prospects and growth paths in the state’s emerging textile clusters. The establishment of a CMAI Branch Office in Chhattisgarh is the first step towards the collaboration’s goal of creating a specific forum for industry involvement, policy advocacy, and capacity building.
Amitabh Jain, the Chief Secretary; Rajat Kumar, the Industries Secretary; and Subodh Kumar Singh, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, were among the Chhattisgarh State officials in attendance. CMAI dignitaries present at the occasion included Santosh Katariya, President; Ankur Gadia, Vice President and Naveen Sainani, Hon. Gen. Secretary & Chairman FAB Show, among other managing committee members.
