The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has lead Bangladesh’s participation in the Circular Textile Trade Mission to the Netherlands, under the theme “Together for a Circular Fashion Tomorrow.”
The trade mission, jointly organised by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dhaka, in collaboration with BGMEA, aims to foster collaboration in textile recycling, waste management, and advanced manufacturing technologies—key enablers of a circular textile economy.
During the four-day programme, the delegation took part in high-level seminars on circular policies, funding, and technological innovations. They also visited pioneering companies—including Brightfiber Inside, Wieland Textiles, SaXcell, and Frankenhuis—renowned for their expertise in textile recycling and closed-loop production systems.
The group toured Saxion University of Applied Sciences’ Circular Textile Lab, where they observed advanced prototyping facilities for recycled yarns and fabrics. These insights are expected to support Bangladesh’s ongoing shift toward sustainable and circular production models.
In addition, the delegation attended Circular Textile Days, a European platform bringing together global brands, recyclers, innovators, and technology providers. The event offered opportunities for networking, matchmaking, and showcasing Bangladeshi initiatives on an international stage.
The BGMEA delegation is headed by Vice-President Vidiya Amrit Khan and includes Directors Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Joarder Mohammed Hosne Quamar Alam, Asef Kamal Pasha, and Sakeef Ahmed Salam. They are joined by leading apparel manufacturers and recyclers from Bangladesh, such as Md. Sadruzzaman Rashel, Managing Director of Circular Fashion Industries Ltd.; Mustafain Munir, Director of Cyclo; and Mohammad Hosne Quamar Alam Joarder, Managing Director of Florence Group.
BGMEA said its leadership role in the mission reflects its commitment to sustainability, as outlined in its Sustainability Vision 2030, which prioritises circularity, emission reduction, and the transition to a greener economy.
