The three-day Global Sourcing Expo Sydney 2025, which commenced on 17th June at the International Convention Centre, has brought together around 600 manufacturers and suppliers from 12 countries. Among the prominent participants are ten Bangladeshi companies, highlighting the country’s expanding capacity in the ready-made garment (RMG) sector.
The Bangladeshi delegation’s participation is led by the Bangladesh High Commission in Australia, in partnership with the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), which has provided financial support to eight RMG manufacturers and suppliers. Additionally, two other Bangladeshi apparel firms are participating independently, reflecting increasing interest in entering the Australian market.
The event was officially inaugurated by Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Australia, F M Borhan Uddin, who emphasized the country’s vibrant presence at the sourcing platform. The inauguration was attended by Commercial Counsellor Rony Chakma, Julie Holt (Director of the expo), and officials from both the EPB and Bangladesh’s Ministry of Commerce.
As one of the region’s key sourcing events, the expo serves as an important platform for networking, promotion, and exploring new business partnerships. It aims to help Bangladeshi exporters expand their market reach, particularly in Australia, where currently 93 per cent of Bangladesh’s exports to the country comprise ready-made garments. Bangladesh has established itself as a significant trade partner in the region, now ranking as Australia’s 23rd largest trading partner.
Industry experts see the expo as an opportunity to diversify markets, reduce reliance on traditional destinations, and respond to the growing demand for sustainable, high-quality, and competitively priced apparel in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
The Global Sourcing Expo Sydney 2025 continues until June 19th, fostering international trade relations and showcasing Bangladesh’s RMG industry to a broader global audience.
