
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by South Eastern Coalfield Limited (SECL), a mini Maharatna Company under the Ministry of Coal, and Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC), a prominent Vocational Training Provider in India, established by the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) under the auspices of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, to provide employable skills to 400 candidates from economically disadvantaged communities in the districts of Bishrampur, Sohagpur, Korba, and Chhindwara.
As part of this project, ATDC would establish training facilities in the districts of Bishrampur, Sohagpur, and Korba. Additionally, ATDC would offer residential training at its Chhindwara campus in Madhya Pradesh, where students would have access to hostel accommodations.
The project would train 100 candidates in apparel manufacturing technology (AMT) and 300 candidates in self-employed tailoring (SET).
Rupinder Brar stated that SECL will take advantage of their connections with the apparel manufacturing industry and that ATDC is a reliable provider of vocational training. According to Rakesh Vaid, SECL is providing aspirational young people in India with the chance to become vital members of the Indian economy by helping them find wage jobs and self-employment, in addition to providing for their families, under the direction of the Ministry of Coal, Government of India.
Rupinder Brar, IRS, Addl. Sec. to the Government of India, Ministry of Coal; Rakesh Vaid, Sr. Vice Chairman ATDC and former Chairman AEPC; Santosh, DDG, Ministry of Coal; Biranchi Das, Director (Personnel), SECL; Dr. Vijay Mathur, Director General & CEO, ATDC; and others were present when this MOU was signed.
Senior officials from SECL, including General Manager Alok Kumar and Dy. Manager Ashish Kumar Suryawanshi, as well as Directors Dr. Roopali Shukla, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, and Neera Singh Parihar, were also in attendance.
Over 4,00,000 candidates have been released by ATDC for the garment industry thus far.
