
The Annual International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) Conference, slated to be held on 17th to 19th November 2016 at Hotel Marriot, Jaipur after 14 years in India, will witness the presence of 400 top leaders from around 30 textile countries.
Smriti Irani, Textile Minister and Rashmi Verma, Secretary, Textiles will address the delegates, which include industry leaders, senior Government officials, and experts who will deliberate on the theme “The Global Textile Economy in the New Normal” at the conference, hosted by The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), the apex chamber of Indian textile industry.
The event will help the industry showcase its strengths to the world which would help attract foreign investments to the sector, in various segments of the value chain ranging from fibre to fashion. It will help foster more international co-operation, based on comparative advantages, benefiting all players.

Naishad Parikh, Chairman, CITI said, “We are hosting the event at a time the Indian textile industry is finding itself amidst a host of opportunities. The economy is growing well, and the Government is keen in pushing forward its reforms agenda and supporting the textile industry, the largest job creator. International factors like the slowdown in China are also helping the industry.”
It may be mentioned that Indian textile sector is a US $ 100 billion industry and provides jobs to 100 million people. Domestically, textile has over 11 per cent share, at US $ 40 billion in FY ’15-16 in total exports, and contributes 5 per cent of the GDP.
