
The fourth edition of AFRICA SOURCING AND FASHION WEEK (ASFW) is set to open gates on October 1-4, 2018 in Millennium Hall, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. As the Africa’s only trade fair for technology, the event will bring together professionals working in cotton, textile, apparel, leather, technology, and home décor industry from across the world.
The event will witness over 250 international manufacturers and exporters from 25 countries exhibiting their offerings. About 4,000 visitors’ conferences are expected to attend the sourcing event. More than 12 new South Africa based leather manufacturers will also participate in the trade-fair for the first time.
Other attractions of the trade-fair include on ‘Sustainability in Production’, ‘Transformation in Technology’, and ‘Continental Free Trade in Africa’. An investment panel will talk about investment opportunities in Mauritius, Madagascar, Kenya, and Ethiopia. It will be further supported by insights into current situation provided by the Government of these countries.
ASFW will also host a project named ‘WALK FOR BUSINESS project’ that will encourage collaboration of more than 25 high-end African designers, international buyers, and fashion brands.
The Ethiopian textile and apparel sector employs 47,000 people at present. It plans to establish itself as a new centre for the international textile industry and achieve export turnover of US $ 1 billion by financial year 2018.
ASFW is organised by joint partnership between Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, Ethiopia Textile Development Institute (ETIDI), and Ethiopia Textile and Garment Manufacturers Association (ETGAMA).
