As per OTEXA, the USA has exported US $ 2.87 billion worth of garments in Jan.-May ’22 period.
During the 5-month period of 2022, the country – which is the largest apparel importer in the world too – marked 24.89 per cent Y-o-Y surge.
The destinations that imported apparels from the USA include Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, UK, Honduras and Japan, amongst many others.
Canada was the top destination that sourced US $ 816.29 million worth of garments from USA, noting 18.10 per cent yearly surge.
Mexico comes second with import value reaching US $ 712.84 million, growing at the rate of 38.38 per cent. It’s worth noting here that both Canada and Mexico are trade partners to USA under USMCA agreement and enjoy preferential advantages.
Nicaragua and Guatemala sourced US $ 156.11 million and US $ 93.97 million worth of garments, respectively, from the USA in the mentioned period, while the UK’s import value reached US $ 89.17 million.
Though the USA has clocked a decent export turnover in apparels, over 85 per cent of exports was done in the countries other than those in Asia.
