The Powerloom Development Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) aims to deepen trade linkages between the Indian and Sri Lankan textile industries, paving the way for sustainable, long-term cooperation, according to its chairman, K. Sakthivel, in a recent press release.
A delegation of Indian fabric exporters visited Sri Lanka to boost bilateral textile trade and strengthen industry collaboration. The Indian team engaged with Sri Lankan textile importers, garment manufacturers, and trade associations to explore opportunities for sourcing Indian fabrics and made-ups, building B2B partnerships, establishing direct trade channels, participating in textile fairs and buyer-seller meets, and improving logistics and market access.
The delegation also met Sri Lanka’s Minister of Industries to discuss potential collaborative initiatives such as joint ventures, skill development programmes, knowledge exchange, and sustainable textile practices. In Colombo, they met the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka and showcased the strength and diversity of India’s textile sector, with a focus on powerloom products and home textiles.
The delegation included PDEXCIL vice chairman Chandrasekar, Export Panel Convener Bharath Chhajer, and senior members of the Fabric Exporters Association, representing some of India’s leading fabric and home textile exporters.
