
Underling around 40 per cent to 50 per cent of the promised Taka 20,000 crore package announced by the Government last year for the CMSMEs (cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises) was roughly disbursed, President of the National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB), Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon called upon the financial institutions to disburse soft loans amongst the CMSMEs.
Media reports maintained this while adding the NASCIB President also suggested that a high-powered committee should be formed comprising representatives of the central bank (Bangladesh Bank), NASCIB, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) and FBCCI to monitor and review the loan disbursement process amongst the CMSMEs.
Further, maintaining COVID-19 had hit the sector hard during the last two years, Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon, reportedly, stated lack of proper and authentic statistics for the sector needs to be improved for the greater interest of the national economy while seeking central Government’s intervention in disbursing the rest 50 per cent to 60 per cent of the Government’s promised soft loans amongst the CMSMEs.
