
The second-largest apparel exporter globally, Bangladesh is now fast becoming an exporter of yarns and fabrics as well.
Media reports maintained this adding Bangladesh shipped yarn and fabrics worth US $ 154.29 million in the last financial year of 2020-21, up 15.52 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) even as according to latest data from Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau, in the July to November period, yarn, fabrics and waste yarn worth US $ 80.48 million were exported from the country (Bangladesh) registering a 38.73 per cent Y-o-Y growth, thanks to a Government incentive.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Well Group, Syed Nurul Islam, reportedly, maintained his company ships around US $ 7 million to US $ 8 million worth of spun polyester yarn, synthetic, sewing thread and embroidery thread mainly to Turkey even as Envoy Group is another fabrics exporter that, reportedly, sells denim fabrics in China, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and India.
