The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry or FBCCI recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mouvement des Entreprises de France International or MEDEF International, in a bid to boost trade between Bangladesh and France.
Media reports maintained this adding Chairman of the France – Bangladesh Business Council, MEDEF International, Pierre Jean Malgouyres and FBCCI President Md. Jashim Uddin – signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations, which took place recently at the France-Bangladesh Business Council Meeting, organised by the MEDEF International and Embassy of Bangladesh in France, which was addressed by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually even as Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Private Industry and Investment Advisor to the Prime Minister Salman F. Rahman, Ambassador of Bangladesh to France Khondker M. Talha, amongst others were present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the FBCCI President, reportedly, maintained that France is the fifth largest export destination of Bangladesh with major export products like woven garments, knitwear, home textile and footwear showing a rising trend even as there is full potential of export items like plastic and light engineering products, frozen food, diversified jute and leather goods, ceramic, etc. to France from Bangladesh, while adding the two countries have a long-lasting bilateral relationship and Bangladesh attaches great importance to its existing cordial relations with France.
