In January this year, more than 35 million kg of filament yarns were exported to 87 countries across the globe. These include polyester, nylon, polypropylene and viscose filament yarns. Around 95 per cent of all filament yarns were of polyester, of which, DTYs were 76 per cent. Turkey and Brazil were the major importers of Indian polyester filament yarns, followed by South Korea. They together accounted for 45 per cent of polyester filament yarn exports. South Africa was the sole importer of polyester industrial yarns in January. During the month, 1.02 million kg of Viscose filament yarns were exported.
