Bangladesh’s garment makers’ body of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and the Sustainable Textile Initiative: Together for Change recently inked two deals to launch Fair Price App.
Reports claimed this while adding the stakeholders involved have maintained the App had the capacity to increase a supplier’s bargaining power, their financial sustainability and ability to raise wages while also adding fair price was a tool that ensured fact-based costing and shared responsibility between buyers and suppliers to make sure prices sufficiently covered all labour expenses, including when wages were raised.
Under the first agreement, BKMEA and STITCH consortium will work together to promote discussions on ethical purchasing practices and introduce the Fair Price App in BKMEA member factories, reports further added.
