Always ready to adapt new technology, DBL Group, one of the largest knitted garment manufacturer in Bangladesh, has recently signed an enterprise agreement (Pro Desktop) with Microsoft. Tech One Global Pvt. Limited, the Licensing Solutions Provider (LSP) of Microsoft in Bangladesh will setup different Microsoft tutorials and technology services along with the required software for DBL Group.
Mohammed Abdul Quader, Deputy Managing Director of DBL Group and Pubudu Basnayake, Country Manager of Microsoft Bangladesh signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Under this agreement, Microsoft will deliver various applications and server software to DBL Group to use for their office productivity, identity and network management, data centre management, advance messaging and collaboration solutions across the organisation.
DBL Group will also use Microsoft products for IT security, virtualisation and project management. They also have the spreading of the cost of software licences over three years which will help DBL refocus on critical IT budgets by providing predictability in their budgeting purposes, have genuine and upgraded/new Microsoft technologies that will enable them to have faster business communication, reduce operational cost, provide strong data security and will help to develop a productive workforce to smartly handle today’s modern operation of the highly competitive apparel industry.
DBL Group houses 110 circular knitting machines producing 32 tonnes of knitted fabric per day with 2 dye houses doing 40 tonnes per day. Like many other companies in the country, back in 1991, the company used to import fabric from India, but after that, DBL strategized to acquire techniques and experience and started building their backward linkage. Today, with another dyeing house coming up in Kalasari, increasing the dyeing capacity by 60 tonnes, the company has created a niche in all kinds of knit products for men, women and kids for prestigious brands like H&M, Esprit, Puma, G-star, Decathlon and Walmart.
