
The Government is evaluating how Pakistan’s airspace closure may affect Indian air freight bound for the US, Europe, and the Gulf. According to exporters, there won’t be much of an impact.
About 3-4 per cent of garments are exported via aviation, either on freighters or passenger planes, however the majority of goods travel by sea. But according to exporters, the amount is not substantial enough to cause any serious problems.
The Government’s move to prohibit the transshipment of goods from Bangladesh will also contribute to a decrease in Indian pricing. By the end of May, when some shipments will be front-loaded before the reciprocal tariffs go into effect on 9th July, significant pressure is anticipated.
